See how it works

You stopped the diet. The maths in your head didn’t stop with it.

Every meal comes with a calculation

You deleted the tracking app, but you still run the numbers before you order.

You’ve lost the signal

After years of rules, it’s hard to tell whether you’re actually hungry.

Good days and bad days

Food decides your mood, and one dinner out can feel like it undid a week.

why it’s different

Every food app counts something. We decided not to.

flutterfly is built on non-diet principles. Your body’s signals are the data, and the goal is to find sustainable habits that help you feel at peace with food — not hitting a target.

  • No calorie counting
  • No weigh-ins or body goals
  • No “good” or “bad” foods
  • No streaks that punish a day off
20/20

women we interviewed asked to test the app.

Designed with the women it’s for.

Before writing a line of code, we spoke with 20 women aged 20 to 30 in the US, Australia and Switzerland about what years of counting left behind. Every feature on this page came out of those conversations.

how it works

Small habits that replace the tracking.

Still unsure? Fair.

Isn’t this just another diet app in disguise?

We get why you’d ask — a lot of “wellness” apps are. flutterfly has no calorie counting, weigh-ins or body goals, and there’s no “right” way to eat in it. Instead, it’s designed to help you notice your own hunger, fullness and feelings — the signals diets teach you to ignore.

Is flutterfly a medical app?

No — and that’s on purpose. flutterfly is a wellness and self-reflection app for everyday life, not a treatment programme. It isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any health condition. Think of it as a gentle companion, not a plan you have to follow.

Is any of this actually science-backed?

flutterfly’s features are inspired by Intuitive Eating, a non-diet approach introduced in 1995 by two registered dietitians and featured by Harvard’s Nutrition Source. A 2021 meta-analysis of 97 studies found intuitive eating was associated with positive body image, self-esteem and wellbeing. We built on its core ideas: hunger and fullness cues, emotions around eating and mindset. flutterfly itself isn’t a clinical programme, and everyone’s experience is different.

I’ve tried so many things. Why would this stick?

Because it isn’t another set of rules. Most plans only look at what’s on your plate. flutterfly looks at the whole picture — hunger and fullness, mood and stress, rest and the moments worth celebrating — and helps you notice what makes you feel your best. Small daily moments, no streaks to break, no perfect days required. Just you, feeling more at home in your everyday.

Do I really need an app for that?

Honestly? No. But tuning out the diet noise is hard. Having something in your pocket that gently reminds you, checks in with you and keeps your favourite moments in one place can make it easier to stay consistent — at your own pace.

Is flutterfly right for me?

flutterfly is made for women who want simple, everyday tools for balanced habits around food. It may not be suitable for everyone: if you have, or think you may have, an eating disorder or another health condition, are pregnant, or have specific dietary needs, please talk to a doctor or registered dietitian first. flutterfly is not a substitute for professional care or crisis support.
